Description

Restraint (Sanyam) is the core mantra for the attainment of spiritual practice (Sadhana). This image clearly defines this formula. Two turtles were walking along a riverbank; suddenly, seeing a violent creature, both retracted into their shells. One turtle remained disciplined for a long time, whereas the second turtle crossed the limit of restraint and broke its retraction—and the end of its restraint and retraction became the cause of the destruction of its very existence.

Knowledge is infinite. The sermon of a preacher becomes meaningful only when the listeners, i.e., the audience, possess an alert and awake intellect. In this image, a very beautiful description of two types of listeners is given. The first type of listener is like a sieve, which becomes empty through its holes as soon as water is filled into it. The second type of listener is like an earthen pot, which retains and holds whatever it receives according to its capacity. The second type of listener is considered the ideal listener. By accepting these three principles of life development, one can keep oneself free from unnecessary troubles. This image inspires that one should not speak useless things, not listen to futile matters, and not look at unnecessary things—that is, maintain complete control over one's senses.

This Jal Mandir (Water Temple) of Udaipur is a silent inspiration that our destination is the temple of liberation (Moksha), the water spread in between is worldly attachment and illusion, and this boat is spirituality. Whosoever holds onto this boat firmly crosses the water quickly and reaches the temple, i.e., the abode of liberation. Man is the creator of his own destiny. One's own vision becomes creation in the future. In the same pond, there is a pearl (moti) and a fish (machhli)—both starting with the letter 'M' ('m' rashi); the swan picks the pearl, whereas the crow gets attached to the fish. In this world, those who possess a vision for virtue pick the pearls of virtue, and those with a vision for vices lose their lives getting tangled in filth.

Great personalities have called the world a synonym for selfishness. In this world, as long as there is wealth, there is harmony. Relationships have also become based on money now. This selfishness can be observed in the animal kingdom too. As long as a tree remains green and lush, numerous birds make it their dwelling place, but as soon as that tree dries up, every single bird abandons it one by one and departs toward another green, lush tree. Only that tree attains height whose roots/foundation are irrigated. In this picture, one person is watering the foundation, while another person is sprinkling water from above expecting fruit. The irrigation of our foundation alone will enable us to achieve great heights.

Jain Science has challenged modern science with numerous facts. In Jain Science, this is called Mount Meru, and around this Mount Meru, the sun, moon, planets, etc., all revolve and constantly remain engaged in their function.
